8 Meaningful Galentine’s Messages for the Female Leaders in Your Life
February 13th is one of my favorite holidays — Galentine’s Day.
Sure, it’s a made-up holiday, but aren’t most holidays? And considering this one is all about honoring and uplifting the women in our lives, I think it’s definitely worth celebrating.
Here are 8 Meaningful Galentine’s Messages you can send to celebrate the women in your life:
#1: Whenever I need to be brave, I think of you!
Who are the friends in your life who aren’t afraid to try new things, or who recently took a big risk? Let a girlfriend or work friend or admired leader know that her picture belongs next to “Brave” in the dictionary.
#2: I love following your career journey. You are killing it!
Some of the most successful women I know are totally surprised to hear that other people think of them as “leaders”. When we’re in the middle of our own journey, it can be hard to tell how far we’ve come. Take a minute to tell some of your rockstar friends that you think they’re rockstars!
#3: You are someone I know I can count on — I really appreciate it.
You know that neighbor who’s the first to step up when someone needs a hand, or the co-worker who will help the struggling new intern to figure out their email? Let her know that she’s someone everyone can count on. There are so many ways we can lead in life — it doesn’t always look like the C-Suite. Make time to thank the women who lead in different spaces.
#4: I don’t know how you do all the things you do. We should celebrate sometime soon!
Let’s help Wonder Woman hang up her cape and toast to her accomplishments. No one can really “have it all” or “find work/life balance”, right? It’s an ever-changing process of priorities, ups, and down. For women trying to manage a lot at once, life can feel less like “wins” and more like “tradeoffs”. Tell the woman in your life who’s doing a ton that you see her, that you think she’s doing a great job, and that you’d love to help her take a break and celebrate, if she’s up for it.
#5: Phew — we made it to February. Thinking about you today!
Maybe you have a friend whose word of 2022 is “survival.” Maybe they’re resting, or recovering — just taking it one step at a time to get from Tuesday to Wednesday. She deserves to be celebrated and noticed! After all, women don’t need to be climbing Mount Everest to earn our respect as leaders; they can do that just by getting from day to day. Don’t forget that leader who may need to hear, “I’m glad you’re you.”
#6: I looked up to you a lot. Thanks for being you — it had an impact on me!
This one is for the mentors out there — the woman boss at your first job, or the professor who helped you understand what you wanted out of your major. Let her know that she made a difference in your life. She might be completely surprised to know that she had such a big impact.
#7: We don’t know each other–but I’m a big fan!
You know the woman you were talking about the other day, the one who had a great article about AI ethics? Or who has a new podcast about UX that you’re geeking out about? Those women are real people, too! Leave a comment or send a message to let them know that you’re following their work and talking about it with others.
#8: I owe you a “thank you” — Happy Galentine’s Day!
A great general message this Galentine’s Day is one of thanks — let’s thank the women leaders in our lives for how they’ve supported us, lifted us up when we were down, inspired us when we were feeling defeated, or cheered us on when imposter syndrome tried to hit back. Let them know how their words, their actions, or even just their presence helped to keep you going this year.
