In this conference session, Dr. Sarah Glova facilitated a hands-on activity with the audience group that was followed by examples of how WordPress has been used to meet a client's learning goals. The group also explored how WordPress supports some of the most talked-about learning trends: mobile learning, just-in-time training and performance support systems, and learner-designed branching in online learning.

The grant-winning ‘Putting Social Studies in its Place: Using GIS to Enhance the Social Studies Classroom’ proposal from the Virginia Geographic Alliance and Charlottesville City Schools envisioned enhancing the geographic literacy of teachers and students at the classroom, district, and statewide levels by developing and implementing a 5-week online course focused on incorporating GIS in the social studies classroom. Dr. Glova added to the presentation, contributing research regarding the flipped class in engineering and a discussion of flipping introductory-level undergraduate courses. The session also included research regarding the flipped class across all disciplines and a discussion of student resistance to “the flip”.
